With Amanda’s sister, Jeannie, away in a rehabilitation facility, Lex and Amanda find their priorities have changed while caring for their niece, Lorrie. Amanda has taken leave from work to be a full-time caregiver, and Lex helps as much as she can while running the ranch.

They are rewarded by getting to enjoy many of Lorrie’s firsts, including witnessing her first steps, while Lorrie’s antics keep them on their toes. All this makes Amanda determined to start their own family. Both Amanda and Lex learn it’s not always easy, but it’s rewarding, to be raising a little “L”.
